Just took Fiancée Knowles to The Belvedere (http://www.belvedererestaurant.co.uk/) in Holland Park for a slap-up Birthday grill. It kicked ass. Not part of my ROTWU research, but highly recommended.
The dishes were selected from a 3 course set menu priced £27.50. Excellent service as well. They also have an interesting collection of Armagnacs I’d like to investigate given more time and money.
The highlight for me was the salmon: Succulent, flavoursome and they’d crisped the skin delightfully without overcooking the flesh. I’m not much of a dessert person, but the Pear tatin was quite special. I would cheerfully work my way through the entire menu.
In addition, there was live piano music covering such classics as Careless Whisper (reminding me of Peter Griffin playing piano: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-vconhYQAk) and money just can’t buy that kind of fun.
